990 Financial Statement

Note that we do not yet have an Audited Financial Statement for United Way of the Franklin and Hampshire Region since it merged as of July 1, 2021. We will have the first 990 for the merged entity in winter/spring 2023.
Financial Accountability
Each year, United Ways—including United Way of the Franklin and Hampshire Region—certify their adherence to comprehensive financial reporting requirements including governance, ethics, diversity and operations. Specifically, we meet the following:
Tax-Exempt Status
We are tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This includes corresponding provisions of Massachusetts laws and regulations.
Governance
We are governed by an active, responsible, and voluntary board of directors to ensure effective governance over our policies and financial resources. The board is responsible for United Way of the Franklin and Hampshire Region delivering on our mission to advance the common good.
Ethics
We follow a code of ethics that include provisions for ethical management, publicity, fundraising practices and full and fair disclosure.
Diversity
We have a statement to ensure volunteers and staff broadly support and reflect the diversity of the communities we serve.
Financial Accountability
We conduct an annual financial audit conducted by an independent certified public accountant whose examination complies with generally accepted auditing standards.
Public Reporting and Disclosure
We file the IRS Form 990 in a timely manner and provide the IRS Form 990 upon request.
Legal
We comply with all applicable local, state, and federal operating and reporting requirements.
